This position is located at Rumpel Fitness Center, Fort McCoy, WI.

Duties
- Circulates among patrons to assure satisfactory service; receives and resolves customer complaints; provides information and general instructions on the use of equipment, facilities and machinery.
- Assists patrons in the use of the facility by checking out equipment, providing safety instruction, demonstrating new equipment, teaching classes, etc.
- Plans, conducts, publicize and arrange support for special events, social activities, tournaments and related functions. May provide work guidance to other staff.
- Required to perform Lifeguard duties, responsible for safeguarding the lives or persons using the swimming pool. Rescues swimmers and administers first aid as required. Ensures that safety rules are followed.
- Assists in maintaining pool and area and keeping clean and free from an hazards and provides information to swimmers regarding safety rules and procedures. Tactfully warns patrons who repeatedly disregard safety rules and report behavior to manager.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
- A one-year probationary period may be required.
- Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
- Lifeguard must have good vision (based upon an acceptable standard of 20/40 vision or better, either corrected (with glasses or contacts) or uncorrected) while on duty to effectively recognize all emergencies, incidents, and rule breaking.
- Satisfactory completion of pre-employment checks in accordance with AR215-3, chapter 2, is required. Incumbent requires completion of a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for access to federally controlled facilities.
- Incumbent is subject to completion of a favorable background check/investigation Childcare National Agency Check (CNACI) to determine suitability for this position. All local background checks will be re-verified every 5 years.
- An employer referred pre-employment physical examination is required.
- Facility hours are Monday-Friday 4:45am-8:00pm CST, and Saturday-Sunday 5:45am-6:00pm CST. Shift will vary due to mission. Shifts will include mornings, nights, weekends, and occasional holidays.
Qualifications
Resumes must be two pages (or less). Resumes should clearly demonstrate the applicant's relevant experience, skills, knowledge and abilities as they pertain to this position.
A qualified candidate must possess the following:
- Work experience related to the duties described above that included customer service, operation and maintenance of sports facilities and fitness equipment; and possess the following certificates:
- Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
- First Aid Certification (Certificates issued by American Red Cross, Ellis @ Associates, Star Guard or other nationally recognized agencies are acceptable)
For facilities that use Automated External Defibrillator "AED's" the following is required:
- American Red Cross "Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification or nationally recognized equivalent i.e. Ellis & Associates AED certification.
- (Not Applicable) American Red Cross "Oxygen Administration" certification or nationally recognized equivalent i.e. Ellis & Associates Oxygen Administration certification.
In addition to the above qualifications, candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered "Highly Preferred" or "Best Qualified":
- Possess six (6) months Lifeguarding experience.
