DESCRIPTION OF MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES OF POSITION:
The Chess Club Advisor is responsible for the recruitment, facilitation, and supervision of opportunities for middle school students to play chess and other games in a recreational environment during established meetings. The purpose of this club is to provide students interested in chess, or other board games, and opportunity to learn from and compete with each other.
RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Facilitate engaging activities for students specifically looking to incorporate chess and other board game skills.
• Seek to implement one community event or community service opportunity during the school year making the connection from this club to the community (when possible).
• Club meetings would take place at least once monthly.
• Select and give advance notification of all meeting dates to members and main office personnel at the beginning of the school year.
• Maintain any financial records.
• Maintain record of student attendance to all activities.
• Enforce student activity handbook expectations.
• Sustain an updated informational bulletin board promoting club projects, members, and upcoming activities.
• Perform other related tasks/activities as assigned by the principal or designee.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
• Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent
• Preference will be giving to those who have experience in working with middle school aged students
