Qualifications: Must possess interpersonal skills to deal courteously, cooperatively and effectively with co-workers and supervisors. Ability to provide leadership and schedule work of other employees. Possess business skills relating to inventory and maintenance recordkeeping. Possess a high school diploma. Vocational school certification in vehicle repair a definite plus. Five years experience in the vehicle repair field preferred. Be familiar with the latest vehicle diagnostic equipment and utilize such equipment to accurately pinpoint vehicle issues. Possess ability to work independently and perform repairs accurately. Person hired must possess a valid Wisconsin Driver License and possess, or have the ability to acquire, a Wisconsin Commercial Driver's license (CDL) with School Bus & Passenger (S&P) endorsements – CDL training is available at no cost to employee. Individual must provide own general tools.
COMPENSATION: Wage and benefits will be in compliance with the employee handbook for the time worked. Work schedule is Monday- Friday 5:30am – 2:30pm (8 hrs per/day) 12 month position.
DUTIES: Diagnosis and repair of district vehicles and equipment. Perform prescribed preventive maintenance of vehicles and equipment. Assist in maintaining vehicle maintenance records by recording service and repairs. Maintain a current inventory of parts/supplies/equipment. Report all accidents, bus defects, safety concerns, and any hazardous conditions to the Director of Transportation. Observe all mandatory safety regulations for shop areas, promoting high standards and good housekeeping methods. Attend safety meetings to keep up with current laws. Drive bus or van routes as needed. Will be on call for after-hour emergencies. Must follow District rules, procedures, and policies. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Transportation.
