The Tomah Area School District has the following extracurricular vacancy beginning in the 2025-2026 school year: TMS Musical Director
DESCRIPTION OF MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES OF POSITION:
The TMS Musical Director is responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing all aspects of the annual middle school musical production. The director shall select and retain the rights to the musical with approval from the principal. The director shall coordinate and conduct auditions and schedule necessary rehearsals as appropriate. The director will engage volunteers and other community support as necessary to fulfill all aspects of production, marketing, ticketing, etc. This person shall report directly to the principal or designee.
Performance dates for the 2025-2026 school year: September-November
RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Select an appropriate musical production with the approval of the principal
· Schedule and conduct auditions
· Schedule and conduct a sufficient number of rehearsals
· Create and distribute a call schedule for rehearsals
· Organize volunteers as necessary to support the production
· Responsible for budgeting and cash accountability according to district policy
· Coordinate technical aspects of the production with appropriate district staff
· Coordinate the design and construction of the set
· Enforce student activity and behavior expectations as outlined in the TMS Student Handbook
REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
• Minimum level of education - high school diploma or equivalent
• Experience supervising and working with children preferably of middle school age
• Experience performing, or working with musicals, plays, or other theatrical events
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
• Supplemental position
• Pay based upon extra-curricular activities pay schedule
PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL:
• Annual evaluation by the principal and/or designee
