The Tomah Area School District has the following extracurricular vacancy beginning in the 2025-2026 school year: THS Drama Director – School Play
DESCRIPTION OF MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES OF POSITION:
The THS Drama Director – School Play is responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing all aspects of the annual school play at the high school. The director shall select and retain the rights to the annual production with approval from the principal. The director shall coordinate and conduct tryouts / auditions, and schedule necessary rehearsals as appropriate. The director will engage volunteers and other community support as necessary to fulfill all aspects of production, marketing, ticketing, etc. This person shall report directly to the principal or designee.
Performance dates for the 2025-2026 school year are February 20, 21, & 22, 2026.
RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Select an appropriate play with approval of the principal
- Schedule and conduct auditions
- Schedule and conduct a sufficient number of rehearsals
- Create and distribute a call schedule for rehearsals
- Organize volunteers (may be paid a small stipend) as necessary to support the production, this should include at minimum:
- Set Director
- Costume Designer
- Props Coordinator
- Technical Director
- Convene and coordinate a parent committee to support marketing and ticketing operations
- Responsible for budgeting and cash accountability according to district policy
- Coordinate technical aspects of the production with appropriate district staff
- Coordinate the design and construction of the set
- Enforce student activity handbook
REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
- Willingness to devote time and effort necessary before, during, after school and weekends
- Knowledge and experience with theatrical productions, including set design, and costuming
- Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent
