Her voice was described by the Irish Times as "poetry\, perfection and purity".\n\nMcMahon was born and raised in Dublin\, Ireland. She was classically trained in voice and harp and studied Italian and Drama Studies at Trinity College Dublin.\n\nKatie was awarded best folk and acoustic artist by the Minnesota Music Academy. She has also toured the world with the group Secret Garden as their lead singer & harpist.\n\n \n\n"She has an amazingly clear and soulful voice that imbues Irish songs with the sadness and sparkle they need to be\, well\, Irish."
